Best Time of Year to Catch Redfish, Cobia, Snapper, Sheepshead, Trout, Mackerel and Grouper

It is always best to ask the captain what is in season and biting best. This guarantees the best experience on the water. If you care to target a specific species we can do that too. This is your fishing trip and were here to make sure you have a fun and safe time on the water.

In the spring March-April your best bet is Sheepshead and Redfish. These are great trips to bring the family down for spring break. The action is hot and the weather is warming up.

  • May

May is a transition month and is an excellent month to fish. Typically the Flounder are making there way back into the bays from the gulf and the redfish and sheepshead are still lingering around. Also the speckled trout should begin to really improve as the water warms up and the bait moves in. May is also a good time for a bonus cobia that are wrapping up the spring migration from the east.

  • June
    July

June and July are prime time for BIG Pensacola Red Snapper. Red Snapper are plentiful in our area and are typically fun, easy to catch and great to eat. Sometimes we can find decent Red Snapper in our bay when the weather is too rough to get out in the gulf. Typically though we will make the run out into the Gulf for snapper. These require good weather and at least a 5hr trip.

  • July
    September

July, August, September is hot but so is the fishing. The mackeral are thick and the action can be red hot. Red Snapper season typically ends sometime in July so we start targeting the Mackeral off the beaches. A good trip in these months start in early in the morning looking for some inshore species like Trout and Redfish and finish up the day catching some King and Spanish Mackeral.

  • October
    November

Oct and Nov are two of my favorite months to fish. This is when the Big Bull Redfish move into our bays and the action can be RED HOT!!!! Not only is the redfish bite good but the flounder bite can be good as well. Also if they allow us to keep Red Snapper in the fall, it is also a very good time to fish for them.
